In the year 1912, the opening of our school was marked by a pole shed in the village called Amunukola
next to the village of pahala halmillewa. At that time, there was no school in the surrounding area, so it was
famous school where many children did good work. it started with only 20 children at the beginning.
After 14 years (1926) Amunukola was removed from the village and established in the village of pahalahalmillewa which has facilities .Mr .siyathu will be the 1st teacher of our school sine then, there has been constant communication and in the year 1980 ,the high school are art subject of stated with 6 students for the frist A/L Batch .in 2013 ,the commercial batch was stated.
It also provided education to children frome 1-13 grades and in 2013 it was established as Dutugamunu primary school . scine then , Dutugamunu college has been continuously fulfilling responsibilities by imparting education to students for grade 6-13 and raising distinguished and discipling person to the future world
